Clean Water

ORRTANNA, Pa., May 1, 2014—Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced today that applications are now being accepted for new, landmark conservation initiatives created by the 2014 Farm Bill. The programs will provide up to $386 million to help farmers restore wetlands, protect working agriculture lands, support outdoor recreation activities and boost the economy.

Vilsack made the announcement at Kuhn Orchards in Orrtanna, Pennsylvania.

Watershed Management Authority

CALMAR, IOWA – April 16TH, 2014 – Northeast Iowa RC&D hosted a meeting on April 16th at Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar for all producers in the Turkey River Watershed. The meeting provided an opportunity for landowners from seven counties to learn about the Turkey River Watershed Management Authority’s (TRWMA) planning efforts and more importantly for the producers to provide input and insight to the group, which is working on a plan to reduce flooding and improve water quality in the Turkey River Watershed.… Read more ›

January 2014

2013 marked the one-year anniversary of the formation of the Turkey River Watershed Management Authority (TRWMA).  The TRWMA was established under a 28E agreement by 7 Soil and Water Conservation Districts, 23 communities, and 5 counties with the intent of reducing flooding and improving water quality in the Turkey River Watershed.  The TRWMA holds quarterly public meetings. The meetings include presentations from various experts, information sharing regarding ongoing projects in the watershed, and facilitated planning discussions. … Read more ›
